CHOUGACHHA, Jashore — A mobile court in Jashore’s Chougachha upazila seized 200 liters of diesel being smuggled illegally and fined the owner of Bishwas Filling Station 10,000 taka.
The fuel was seized around midday Tuesday from Chanpur intersection in the municipal town. The court was led by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Farzana Islam.
According to court sources, a van was carrying 200 liters of diesel illegally from Chougachha toward Sharsha upazila when local residents recognized the load and stopped it at Chanpur intersection. Islam arrived after being informed and fined the agent 10,000 taka.
She ordered that the seized diesel be sold at government-fixed prices at Bishwas Filling Station and the proceeds deposited in the government treasury.
Chougachha Upazila Agriculture Officer Moshabbir Hussain and Officer-in-Charge Mamunur Rashid were present during the operation.
UNO Farzana Islam confirmed the incident.
