Jamaat has launched tree-planting drive in Chuadanga, targets 30,000 saplings

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Chuadanga district chapter has launched a month-long tree-planting campaign under the theme “There is no alternative to planting trees for a livable country.”

The program was formally inaugurated at noon on Saturday on a plot of land adjacent to Begonagar Kindergarten School.

The inaugural event was attended as chief guest by Md Ruhul Amin, Member of Parliament for Chuadanga-2 and Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Chuadanga district chapter.

In his remarks as chief guest, Ruhul Amin said Chuadanga experiences both severe winter cold and extreme summer heat, making living conditions unbearable for residents. He said extensive tree planting is needed to protect the district from this harsh weather and restore environmental balance.

He announced a target of planting 30,000 trees across Chuadanga district this season to protect the environment.

Speaking as special guest, Chuadanga-1 MP Advocate Masud Parvez Rasel said that alongside social and organizational initiatives, individuals must also step forward to counter the adverse effects of climate change.

On the inaugural day, 200 saplings of various fruit, timber, and medicinal species were planted at educational institutions, rooftop pots, and household courtyards across Chuadanga Sadar upazila.

Also present were Jamaat district Naib-e-Amir Mawlana Azizur Rahman, District Secretary Advocate Asaduzzaman, Assistant District Secretary Abdul Kader, Social Welfare President Abdul Kader, District Youth Wing President Nur Mohammad Hossain Tipu, Legal Affairs Secretary Darus Salam, Sadar Upazila Amir Mawlana Belal Hossain, and Chuadanga Municipal Chapter Amir Advocate Hasibul Islam, along with other local leaders.
