Special prayers and supplications were held at the national mosque Baitul Mukarram on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson the late Begum Khaleda Zia.
The prayers, held after the Zuhr congregational prayer on Saturday, sought divine mercy and forgiveness for Khaleda Zia’s soul. Attendees also prayed that God forgive her shortcomings and grant her a place in paradise.
Prayers were also offered for the peace, prosperity, sovereignty, and welfare of Bangladesh, and for the safety and well-being of its people.
The gathering was attended by the imam and staff of the national mosque, officials and employees of the Islamic Foundation, congregants, and people from various walks of life.
The prayers were led by Baitul Mukarram’s Pesh Imam Mufti Mohiuddin Kasem, who sought divine mercy for Khaleda Zia’s soul, peace in her grave, and God’s special blessings in the hereafter. Prayers were also offered for her family members, relatives, colleagues, and well-wishers. Supplications were also made for the health and longevity of Prime Minister Tareque Rahman.
