India’s Border Security Force attempted to push seven people from West Bengal’s Nadia district across the international border into Bangladesh at Shewaratala in Gangnee upazila, Meherpur, on Thursday morning, local sources said.

The attempted push-in took place near border pillar 142-5S/6S. The group consisted of six men and one woman. After Border Guard Bangladesh personnel and local residents mounted a protest at the scene, the BSF withdrew without completing the push-in.
