A case has been filed at Kotchandpur police station in Jhenaidah under various sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009 (Amendment 2026). The case names 14 suspects in the First Information Report (FIR), with a further 8 to 10 unidentified individuals also named as accused.
Police said the case, numbered 08, was filed at Kotchandpur police station over an incident that took place on August 16, 2026. It brings charges under sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009 (Amendment 2026).
Following the filing of the case, police carried out an operation and arrested one of the named suspects, Md Shariful Islam. He is a resident of Talsar village in Kotchandpur upazila; his father’s name is Sirajul Islam.
Police said preparations are under way to produce the arrested suspect in court once the necessary legal procedures are completed. Police operations to arrest the remaining suspects named in the case are ongoing.
