A schoolteacher in Kasba, Brahmanbaria, has accused Delwar Hossain Jinnah, president of the Kasba Paschim union unit of Chhatra Dal, of trying to force her into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at gunpoint. She filed a written complaint at Kasba police station the same night.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon (September 28) in Akchhina village of Kasba Paschim union. The teacher and the accused live in the same village.
In her complaint, the teacher said Delwar blocked her way as she was returning home after school. When she refused to talk about a personal matter, he drew a pistol, threatened her and forced her into an auto-rickshaw. An unidentified man with him covered her mouth, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, the complaint says.
When the auto-rickshaw reached the Kullabari twin bridges, she jumped from the moving vehicle to save her life, and local people who heard her screams came to her rescue, the complaint says.
Delwar Hossain Jinnah denied the allegation. He claimed he had been in a relationship with the teacher for about a month and had taken her out in the auto-rickshaw to calm her anger, and said the abduction allegation was false.
The teacher rejected his claim of a relationship. She said Delwar blocked her way on her way home and wanted to talk, and when she refused, he tried to force her into the auto-rickshaw at gunpoint. She and her family have felt unsafe since the incident, she said.
Kasba police station officer-in-charge Ali Mohammad Rashed said a complaint had been received and would be investigated, and the necessary legal action would be taken.
