Japan has announced $15 million in emergency humanitarian grants for people in Iran, Lebanon, and the occupied West Bank to help address the ongoing humanitarian crisis, Japan’s Foreign Ministry said.

According to a Foreign Ministry statement, the aid will be channelled through international organisations including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The funds will be used for emergency humanitarian activities including healthcare, food assistance, shelter, safe drinking water, and sanitation.

Tokyo also announced an additional $640,000 for Lebanon, to be provided through the Japan Platform to strengthen relief operations by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country.

The Japanese government said the humanitarian assistance would be coordinated with international partners to meet the urgent needs of people in regions affected by conflict and instability.
