Iran-US talks in Switzerland concluded successfully, Pakistani PM says

Talks between Iran and the United States in Switzerland have been successfully completed, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said. He confirmed the positive progress in a post on social media.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the talks between the two countries were held in a very positive and constructive atmosphere, with several encouraging advances achieved. Both sides agreed to draw up a specific roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days. A high-level committee was formed to politically oversee and supervise the entire process. And, as part of implementing the agreement, a decision was taken to begin more detailed technical talks in the next phase.

Referring to Pakistan’s role in the talks, Shehbaz Sharif said: ‘Pakistan will always continue to play its honest and sincere role in advancing dialogue and diplomacy toward a peaceful and lasting solution.’

The meeting in Switzerland is being seen as a major diplomatic success in easing the long-running tensions between Iran and the United States.
