Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s bilateral relationship with Iraq was at its strongest level.

Speaking Monday night in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf, Araghchi said relations with the Iraqi government were in their best condition. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency carried his remarks.

He said the Iraqi prime minister’s recent visit to Tehran had produced highly constructive talks between the two countries.

According to Araghchi, cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad extends beyond politics. The two countries coordinate on shared issues and work closely in the economic and security sectors, he said.

Their close relationship is viewed as an important part of diplomatic and security cooperation in the region amid recent geopolitical changes in the Middle East.
