Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) have said at least 20 of their fighters were killed in joint US-Saudi strikes carried out across seven provinces of the country. Another 32 were injured.
The PMF said the casualty figures are preliminary and could rise further. The death toll had earlier been given as eight.
In a statement, it said the strikes were carried out on PMF bases in the provinces of Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala and Diyala. Buildings, vehicles and military equipment were also damaged to varying degrees in the attacks.
