Russia has warned the United States against increasing “unacceptable” arms supplies to Ukraine. The Russian foreign ministry gave the information in a statement on Thursday, July 23.
Quoting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the statement said that in a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila, Lavrov stressed that “continuing arms supplies to the Kyiv government is unacceptable.”
At the meeting, held on the sidelines of an Asian summit, Lavrov condemned the “destabilising policies” of European countries.
Those countries are still trying to “strategically defeat” Russia, he said. The Russian foreign ministry said Lavrov reiterated Russia’s readiness to find a “political and diplomatic solution” to the conflict.
It was the first meeting between Lavrov and Rubio since September 2025. It came at a time when Washington’s attention has shifted from mediating in Ukraine towards dealing with the war in the Middle East.
