The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has announced a reduction in the prices of gold and silver in the country’s market.
Under the new decision, the price of gold jewelry, including VAT, has been cut by up to Tk 2,216 a bhori. The new prices took effect from 10 a.m. on Monday (July 13). A BAJUS notice said the new prices of gold and silver were set at a meeting of the organization’s standing committee on price-setting and price monitoring at 9 a.m. on Monday.
According to the new price list, the price of the best-quality 22-carat gold jewelry, including VAT, has been set at Tk 221,966 per bhori (11.664 grams). Previously, the price of 22-carat gold was Tk 224,182 per bhori. The new price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 211,993 per bhori, 18-carat gold will sell at Tk 182,075 per bhori, and the price of traditional-method gold has been set at Tk 148,774 per bhori.
Along with gold, the price of silver has also been reduced. Under the new prices, 22-carat silver is Tk 4,607 per bhori, 21-carat silver will sell at Tk 4,374 per bhori, 18-carat silver has been set at Tk 3,791 per bhori, and traditional-method silver at Tk 2,858 per bhori.
