DHAKA, Sept. 26 — Bangladesh Jewellers Association, or BAJUS, has announced another reduction in gold and silver prices in the domestic market.
Under the new decision, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by 1 thousand 691 taka to 2 lakh 32 thousand 930 taka. The price of 22-carat silver per bhori has also been reduced by 292 taka to 4 thousand 840 taka.
BAJUS confirmed the decision in a notice Saturday. The authorities said the new prices would take effect from 10 a.m. that day.
Under the new rates, including VAT, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori was reduced by 1 thousand 691 taka to 2 lakh 32 thousand 930 taka. The price of 21-carat gold per bhori was reduced by 1 thousand 574 taka to 2 lakh 22 thousand 490 taka, while 18-carat gold was reduced by 1 thousand 301 taka to 1 lakh 91 thousand 56 taka. Traditional-method gold was reduced by 1 thousand 108 taka to 1 lakh 56 thousand 64 taka per bhori.
Earlier, on Sept. 19, the price of the best-quality, or 22-carat, gold per bhori including VAT was increased by 1 thousand 691 taka to 2 lakh 34 thousand 621 taka. At the same time, 21-carat gold per bhori was increased by 1 thousand 575 taka to 2 lakh 24 thousand 65 taka.
The price of 18-carat gold per bhori was also increased by 1 thousand 301 taka to 1 lakh 92 thousand 397 taka, while traditional-method gold was increased by 1 thousand 108 taka to 1 lakh 57 thousand 172 taka. One week after that price decision, gold prices have been reduced again.
Alongside gold, silver prices were also reduced. Under the new decision, the price of 22-carat silver per bhori including VAT was reduced by 292 taka to 4 thousand 840 taka. The price of 21-carat silver per bhori was reduced by 350 taka to 4 thousand 607 taka.
The price of 18-carat silver per bhori was reduced by 291 taka to 3 thousand 966 taka, and traditional-method silver was reduced by 175 taka to 3 thousand 32 taka per bhori.
Gold prices in the domestic market have now been adjusted 117 times this year. Prices were increased 58 times and reduced 59 times. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted 93 times, including 64 increases and 29 reductions.
The domestic gold price record was set Jan. 29 this year. On that day, the price of the best-quality, or 22-carat, gold per bhori was increased by 16 thousand 213 taka to 2 lakh 86 thousand 1 taka. That has been cited as the highest gold price in the country’s history.
