An official with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said Tehran built a new air defense structure during the recent war, involving several changes to command and control networks, training, and combat tactics. The claim could not be independently verified.
An Iranian official made the remarks in a documentary published by Fars News Agency, Iran’s state-affiliated news outlet. He said the changes to the air defense system were made based on lessons learned from previous conflicts. He claimed this has allowed Iran to move away from a conventional or “classical” air defense model toward a more integrated structure.
He said the new structure involves changes to combat tactics, equipment, and technical procedures, alongside reforms to how information is collected, shared, and used within the air defense network.
He claimed these changes allowed Iran to keep a greater number of its missiles and air defense systems operational during the conflict.
