A construction worker, Raihan Mia, 20, has died after being electrocuted while working on a two-storey building under construction in Basail, Tangail.
The incident happened on Saturday morning (3 October) at the house of Anis, an expatriate, in the Proshika area of Basail municipality. Raihan, son of Babul Mia of Kaharole upazila in Dinajpur, had been working on the building for several days.
He was working with iron rods in the morning when a rod he lifted touched a rural electricity line and he was seriously injured by the shock. He was taken to the upazila health complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Basail police station officer-in-charge Alamgir Kabir confirmed the death and said the body was at the hospital and would be handed over to the family after legal formalities.
