SATURIA, Manikganj — A brick-kiln worker named Md. Selim died by suicide following a family dispute in Saturia upazila of Manikganj. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hargaj Purbanagar village of the upazila.
Md. Selim was the son of the late Daner Shekh of Hargaj Purbanagar village.
Family members said Selim and his wife quarreled Tuesday morning before she left for work. At one point, he smashed household pots and pans. After his wife left for her workplace, he called her around 10 a.m. and asked for forgiveness one last time. Shortly afterward, Selim ingested poison.
Relatives realized what had happened and rushed Selim to Saturia Sadar Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment around 1 p.m. Family members took the body home, but police later recovered it and sent it for an autopsy.
Saturia Police Station officer-in-charge Shahinul Islam said: “After receiving the news, police were sent to the scene. The body has been recovered and sent for autopsy.”
