NARAYANGANJ — Jibon Chandra, 20, a garment worker, was killed after being run over by a covered van on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road in Fatullah.
The accident took place around 10 a.m. on Wednesday (January 21) in front of the taxi stand in the Chandmari area of the link road.
Eyewitnesses said Jibon Chandra was riding a bicycle when it collided with an electric autorickshaw, throwing him to the ground. A speeding covered van coming from behind then ran him over and fled the scene. He died on the spot.
Fatullah Model police sub-inspector Milon Fakir said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue at Victoria General Hospital for autopsy. A case will be filed under the Road Transport Act.
