NAWABGANJ — Social Welfare Minister Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain said some people were spreading fake news to confuse the public about the Family Card programme, calling it a priority project of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
“Some are trying to confuse people with fake news about the Family Card,” Zahid said. “The Family Card will be issued to everyone in phases. This is a priority project of our Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.”
He spoke Friday afternoon at the Nawabganj upazila parishad meeting room after a discussion with government officials from Nawabganj, Birampur, Ghoraghat and Hakimpur upazilas.
At the meeting, organized by Nawabganj upazila administration, Zahid said the prime minister would inaugurate the Family Card programme on March 10.
He urged officials to remain vigilant against corruption in the programme. The government and its officials and staff would not engage in any corruption, he said.
