DINAJPUR — Journalists and residents in Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat upazila formed a human chain and rallied Monday to demand the removal of a branch manager of Palli Sanchay Bank, accusing him of discourteous and unprofessional behavior toward reporters.

The protest was held at 11 a.m. at the upazila parishad compound, organized by journalists and concerned residents of Ghoraghat upazila.

According to participants, the branch had recently sent an erroneous legal notice to a customer. When local journalists went to meet branch manager Monwar Hossain to verify the matter and gather information, he refused to cooperate and instead grew angry, the journalists said.

Those present accused Hossain of extremely uncivil and unprofessional behavior, which they said amounted to professional disrespect.

Speakers at the human chain said such conduct was unacceptable from a responsible government employee.

They also alleged that Hossain was rude not only to journalists but also to ordinary customers at the bank, and that his unyielding and unprofessional attitude was eroding service quality.

Protesters demanded that higher authorities take disciplinary action against the manager and warned that they would announce tougher action if Hossain was not removed within the next few days.

Journalists from various local media outlets, concerned residents and affected customers took part in the protest, carrying placards calling for the manager’s removal.
