BAJITPUR — The BNP held a protest rally in Bajitpur on Saturday, Feb. 14, against the vandalism of portraits of party founder Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman in the Nikli and Bajitpur areas after the recent election.
The rally was held at 4:30 p.m.
Syed Ehsanul Huda, the BNP’s Dhaner Shish (paddy-sheaf) candidate for the Nikli-Bajitpur seat in the 13th parliamentary election, spoke as chief guest.
Huda said independent candidate Sheikh Mojibur Rahman Iqbal had won Awami League votes by promising to rehabilitate “the allies of fascism” and had defeated him. “On his orders, the portraits of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, former BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman were vandalized,” he said. “This is causing bleeding in the hearts of Dhaner Shish workers, supporters and voters in Bajitpur-Nikli.”
