KISHOREGANJ — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) suspended Zahidul Alam Jahangir, the party’s Mithamoin upazila unit president, over allegations he cut down some 20 mahogany trees planted on an embankment in the Kamalpur area to prevent river erosion.

Reports on the incident appeared in various newspapers. Following the publication, the BNP suspended Jahangir’s primary membership and all party positions on charges of breaching party discipline, according to a notice issued by the district committee.
