LONDON — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged Iran and the United States to “find a way to a solution” after their talks in Pakistan ended in failure, his office said.
The prime minister’s office said Starmer, in a call with the Sultan of Oman, emphasized the need to maintain the ceasefire and to ensure there was no further escalation of the situation. Starmer believes preserving the ongoing ceasefire is critical in the current circumstances, with all sides having stepped back from conflict, the office said.
British Health Secretary Wes Streeting told a BBC program it was disappointing that initial talks aimed at ending the Iran war had broken down without an agreement.
Streeting defended the British position, saying the decision not to become directly involved in the conflict was the right one.
