Jamaat seeks prayers for ailing chief Shafiqur Rahman

DHAKA — Jamaat-e-Islami deputy chief and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has prayed for the swift recovery of party chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

In a statement on Thursday, he said the Jamaat-e-Islami chief had fallen ill on Wednesday and was being treated at a private hospital in Dhaka. He said Shafiqur Rahman had been making important contributions on national and international issues during the current situation in the country, and that his contribution was very much needed at this moment.

He called on all citizens of the country, the party’s rank and file, and well-wishers and supporters at home and abroad to pray earnestly to God for the Jamaat chief’s swift recovery.

“May Almighty Allah grant the Jamaat chief swift recovery so that he can contribute to the welfare of the country and the nation. Ameen,” he said.
