CHUADANGA — A guardians’ rally titled ‘Mothers of July’ and a film screening were held Saturday at the deputy commissioner’s office, organizers said.

The rally took place at 11 a.m. on Aug. 2 in the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office. Mohammad Zahirul Islam, deputy commissioner of Chuadanga, presided.

Ayesha Akhter Rikta, a lecturer at Pourashava College, moderated. Speakers included Khandaker Golam Maula, the superintendent of police; Sharmin Akhter, the additional deputy commissioner; Prof. Siddiqur Rahman; and relatives of those killed or wounded in the July uprising.

“Mothers in every household across the country sent their children out, and that is why the movement succeeded,” Zahirul Islam said. “Now we must be patient. Those we have given responsibility are working. The July movement will be brought to justice.”

A film on the July movement was screened after the discussion.
