DHAKA — The question structure and mark distribution for the fifth-grade primary scholarship examination have been released, with five subjects carrying 400 total marks. Each exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long.

The information was conveyed Monday, Aug. 4, in a letter from the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE).

The letter said the question structure and mark distribution were being sent to all government primary schools. The exam will cover five subjects: three with 100 marks each, and two combined into a single 100-mark paper of 50 marks each.

Bangla, English and primary mathematics will each be tested on a 100-mark paper. The exam time has been set at 2 hours and 30 minutes. Papers will include knowledge-based, comprehension-based, application-based and higher-skill questions arranged by domain.

One subject will be tested per day, the letter said. Bangladesh and World Identity and Primary Science will be tested together on a single day, treated as a single subject. The Bangladesh and World Identity portion will carry 50 marks and the Primary Science portion 50 marks. Students will have 2 hours and 30 minutes for that exam as well.

The Primary and Mass Education Ministry announced the return of the primary scholarship exam after a 16-year gap. The exam is expected to be held in the last week of December. It will be given separately to selected students from those who take the annual fifth-grade exam.
