CHAUGACHHA, Jashore — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party held a rally and victory procession in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore on Tuesday to mark the first anniversary of the July uprising. The rally was held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 5, at the Press Club intersection in the town.
Mizanur Rahman Khan, president of the Jashore Chamber of Commerce, was the chief guest. The meeting was chaired by M.A. Salam, president of the upazila BNP.
The event was conducted by Masudul Hasan, general secretary of the upazila BNP. Other speakers included Jahurul Islam, former president of the upazila BNP; Younus Ali Dafadar, former general secretary; Alibuddin, organizing secretary of the upazila BNP; Mustafizur Rahman Mustag; Selim Reza Awliar, president of the municipal BNP; Abdul Halim Chanchal, general secretary; Saidul Islam, organizing secretary of the municipal BNP; lecturer B.M. Hafizur Rahman; Patibila union council chairman Ataur Rahman Lal; Jahurul Islam Babu, president of Swarupdah union BNP; Abdul Hamid Kazi, president of Sukhpukuria union; and Salahuddin, convener of the upazila Jubo Dal.
After the rally, a procession set out from the Press Club grounds and circled various streets in the town. Leaders and activists from the upazila BNP, Jubo Dal, Krishak Dal, Chhatra Dal and other affiliated bodies at the union and ward levels took part.
