JASHORE — Associates of a drug suspect detained by police snatched him away after attacking officers in Jashore, leaving a Criminal Investigation Department constable injured.
The incident occurred Wednesday, Sept. 3, evening in the Rajarhat area of Sadar Upazila.
The injured constable, Shahidul Islam, was admitted to Jashore General Hospital.
According to CID sources, a team from the Jashore zone raided an akhra in Rajarhat based on a tip that a large drug consignment was being gathered there.
A drug suspect was detained during the operation, but his associates launched a sudden attack and snatched him away.
A CID sub-inspector filed a case at Jashore Kotwali Police Station over the incident.
Officer-in-charge Abul Hasnat confirmed the incident.
