DHAKA — Police have detained a young woman in connection with the killing of Jubayed Ahmed, a Jagannath University student and Chhatra Dal leader who was found stabbed to death in old Dhaka, officials said.
The detainee, identified as Borsha Akter, was a private student Jubayed tutored at her home in the Armanitola area. She was picked up about 11:20 p.m. Sunday from her residence at Roshan Villa on Noor Box Road in the capital’s Bangshal area. Other members of the household are under close police surveillance.
Jubayed was a postgraduate student in the statistics department at Jagannath University. He served as a convening committee member of the university unit of Chhatra Dal, the BNP’s student wing, and as president of the Cumilla district student welfare association.
Police took the body from the scene to Mitford Hospital in the capital for autopsy. He was killed on his way to a tutoring session, officials said.
Police said suspects were being monitored and that the killers would soon be arrested and brought to justice.
