Former lawmaker Kabirul Haque shown arrested in four more cases

NARAIL — A court here on Wednesday showed former lawmaker Kabirul Haque Mukti arrested in four cases filed at Kalia and Naragati police stations and sent him to jail after denying his bail.

Senior Judicial Magistrates Ratna Saha and Maruf Hasan of Narail’s Kalia and Naragati cognizance courts issued separate orders Wednesday morning, after which Mukti was sent to Narail District Jail.

Additional Public Prosecutor Azizul Islam and court police inspector Soresh Chandra confirmed the development to Prothom Alo.

According to lawyers and court police, Mukti was arrested by police on Sept. 25 from a house in the Niketan area of the capital’s Gulshan in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Gulshan Police Station. After a six-day remand, he was sent to Keraniganj Jail on Oct. 1 when he was produced in court.
