JHENAIDAH — A 2-year-old boy named Mostak Hossain drowned in a pond while playing with ducks in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah.
The tragic incident took place around 9:30 a.m. Friday at Mondalpara in Gopinathpur village of Taherhuda union in the upazila.
The dead child Mostak Hossain was the son of Sagar Hossain of the same village.
Relatives said Mostak was playing with ducks near the house in the morning. Several other neighborhood children of similar age were with him. When the others continued playing but Mostak was not with them, family members began searching. Around 9:30 a.m., relatives recovered Mostak from a pond near the house. He was taken to Harinakundu Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Harinakundu police station Officer-in-Charge confirmed the incident.
