MAGURA — Mohammad Tojammel Haque, the agriculture officer of Magura Sadar upazila, has been transferred as a disciplinary measure following allegations of irregularities and corruption, officials said.
After serving four years in the same upazila, Tojammel was promoted in place and complaints subsequently emerged that he had become involved in various irregularities and corruption, according to officials.
Following complaints from sub-assistant agriculture officers at the field level and from farmers, a first show-cause notice (memo No. 989) was issued against Tojammel (PDS No. 3698, 36th BCS) on Sept. 4, 2025. A second show-cause notice (memo No. 905) followed on Sept. 7, 2025, accusing him of failing to submit accurate Personal Data Sheet (PDS) information. On Sept. 28, 2025, Alamgir Biswas, additional director for the Jashore region, ordered (memo No. 1704) the formation of an investigation committee and required a report within five working days. Deputy director Tajul Islam led a three-member inquiry team that began field-level investigation and submitted a 120-page report.
The report clearly stated that Tojammel had been warned multiple times but failed to correct his conduct, according to multiple reliable sources. His negligence has hindered the objectives of various government projects, led to the waste of public funds and damaged relations with farmers, the report said.
