MONGLA — Mongla Export Processing Zone on Monday opened a training program on disaster preparedness, business continuity and multi-hazard management aimed at helping its factories sustain production and reduce losses during emergencies.

Officers and staff from various levels of factories operating inside the zone attended the program, which the EPZ co-organized with the Safety Council of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country’s top trade body.

Kalam Md. Abul Bashar, executive director of Mongla EPZ, inaugurated the program on the morning of Nov. 3, 2025.

Bashar said disasters can damage factories less if owners prepare in advance and act quickly when crises strike. Disaster management also helps factories keep production running, he said.

He welcomed the FBCCI initiative as a step to improve the business environment and reduce risk.

Wahiduzzaman, additional executive director of Mongla EPZ, delivered the welcome speech. He said the FBCCI is working to build the disaster-management capacity and awareness of industrial and commercial enterprises under the Bangladesh Preparedness Partnership project of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.

Md. Kawsar Hossain, director (administration) of Mongla EPZ, along with officials of the EPZ zone office and the FBCCI Safety Council, also attended the event.
