DHAKA — A World Bank delegation met Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Tuesday, the party said. The meeting was held at the Jamaat ameer’s office on the morning of Nov. 18.
The delegation was led by Jean Pesme, country director of the World Bank’s Dhaka regional office. He was accompanied by Mehrin A Mahbub, finance adviser for the bank’s Dhaka division, and operations manager M.S. Gayle Martin.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was joined by noted economist Dr. Mizanur Rahman, former senior secretary Mohammad Safiullah, and Jamaat foreign affairs adviser Prof. Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
The meeting reviewed structural reforms and development across various economic sectors in Bangladesh, including a sustainable economy, the tax system and the social sector.
