CHOUGACHHA — Police recovered the body of a trader found hanging in Chougachha upazila of Yashore on Thursday afternoon.
The body was recovered from a mango orchard in Chandrapara village of Hakimpur union in the upazila. Relatives identified the deceased as Shahid Bhuiya, son of Abdul Haque Bhuiya of Chandrapara village. He worked as a small trader.
Passers-by saw the body hanging from a tree branch in the orchard on Thursday afternoon and alerted local residents, who then informed Chougachha police, officials said. Police reached the scene and recovered the body.
Relatives said Shahid Bhuiya had suffered from a liver ailment for a long time. He had also fallen into debt while trying to send his son abroad, they said. Local residents believe he may have died by suicide due to family tensions stemming from these problems.
Chougachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain confirmed the incident.
