DHAKA — Applications from six divisions for the first phase of recruitment of nearly 12,500 assistant teachers in government primary schools are underway. By Thursday afternoon, Nov. 20, about 600,000 job seekers had applied.
Online applications for the assistant teacher posts close Friday, Nov. 21, and the deadline will not be extended, the Directorate of Primary Education said.
According to directorate sources, recruitment notices were issued for 10,219 vacant positions in primary schools across the Khulna, Barishal, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Online applications opened Nov. 8. By 2 p.m. Thursday, about 576,000 candidates had successfully applied and paid the fee.
Candidates can apply online until 11:59 p.m. Friday, and they will have 72 hours after that to pay the application fee. Because applications remain open another day and many candidates have yet to pay, directorate officials expect the total to rise by about 100,000.
S.M. Mahbub Alam, research officer at the Directorate of Primary Education, said about 576,000 candidates had applied and paid the fee. Some applicants had not yet paid, he said, and an additional 100,000 applications were expected, bringing the total to about 700,000 to 750,000.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education issued the first-phase recruitment notice on Nov. 5, covering Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Rangpur. A second-phase notice for the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions was issued Nov. 12. Those two divisions have 4,166 vacant positions.
