JASHORE — The struggle will continue until justice is established, Abu Sadiq Kayem, vice-president of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), said Friday.

“Through the July uprising, our young generation has gained a new Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh have not seen liberation in the past 54 years. As long as justice is not established, our struggle will continue. Young people in this country have been denied the vote. The time has come to establish justice through the ballot,” Kayem said.

He was speaking Friday (November 21) afternoon at a public gathering organized by Jhikargachha upazila Jamaat-e-Islami. The rally was held on the grounds of BM Secondary School in the upazila.

“Those who do politics in Bangladesh make a business out of it. Once they are in power, no one bothers to look after ordinary people. There are even examples of becoming champions in corruption. We want to set a new example in politics. Politics for the poor, for equality, for liberation, for Islam. The healthcare system needs a change of era. Hospitals must be freed from syndicates,” Kayem said.

“One political party has declared, even before the election, that it has already come to power. If anyone wants to become a new fascist, capture polling centers or rig the system again, their fate will be terrible. Polling centers will have to be guarded on election day. Sheikh Hasina is still being given indemnity. The politics of killer Hasina will not return to Bangladesh. Only those who stand for Bangladesh will do politics here, alongside those who oppose the killer Hasina’s collaborators,” he said.

“We were part of the July uprising from the start. When we were running a justified movement, killer Hasina tagged us as Razakars to suppress the protest. Even after we were taken to hospital, attacks continued, and Mosleh Uddin Farid helped us at that time. He is a July fighter. To make the truth victorious and to build the Chougachha and Jhikargachha of our dreams, we need brother Mosleh Uddin Farid. A Bangladesh free of discrimination must be built,” the DUCSU vice-president said.

The chief guest at the rally was Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid, Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominated candidate from Jashore-2 (Chougachha-Jhikargachha). Special guests included DUCSU sports secretary Md. Arman Hossain, Jashore-3 (Sadar) candidate Abdul Qader, Jashore-1 (Sharsha) candidate Azizur Rahman, Jashore-5 candidate Gazi Enamul Haque and Jamaat leader Golam Quddus, among others.

The session was chaired by Abdul Alim, Jhikargachha upazila Jamaat amir. Md. Ismail Hossain of Jashore district west spoke at the event. It was moderated by Jhikargachha upazila Jamaat secretary Nazrul Islam and Shibir leader Khalid Bin Khalil.
