BHOLA — Mufti Maulana Faizul Karim, the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for the Bhola-2 parliamentary seat and the party’s Bhola district naib-e-ameer, led a rally of about 2,000 motorcycles through Borhanuddin and Daulatkhan on Saturday.

The procession began at 10 a.m. from the Borhanuddin heliport along the Bhola-Charfasson highway. Supporters appealed for votes for the scales symbol and chanted slogans in support of Jamaat. Party workers at all levels took part, carrying placards bearing the scales symbol.

The rally ended at 1 p.m. with speeches at the Daulatkhan Eidgah ground, after passing through various roads in Daulatkhan municipality, Jamaat leaders said.

From an open-top vehicle, Karim waved at people lining both sides of the road as he passed.

“A manifesto is being prepared to identify the real problems of this constituency and take effective steps to solve them,” Karim said.

“Through the victory of the scales in the coming election, the unfinished work of the past will be completed and Borhanuddin-Daulatkhan will be established as a model constituency in the country,” he said.

Jamaat’s Borhanuddin upazila secretary Maksudur Rahman, assistant secretary Maulana Oliullah and several thousand party workers also took part in the procession.
