DHAKA — Bangladesh’s Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued notifications Wednesday transferring 274 judges in a single round.

Two separate notifications on transfers and promotions were signed Nov. 26 by Deputy Secretary A.F.M. Golzar Rahman.

According to the notifications, 826 judges in total received promotions and new postings across three tiers: 250 additional district judges were promoted to district judge, 294 joint district judges to additional district judge, and 282 senior assistant judges to joint district judge.

The transferred judges were instructed to hand over their current responsibilities to officers nominated by their department heads by Nov. 27 and join their new posts by Dec. 1.

Judges on training, maternity leave or foreign travel were asked to complete their leave or training, return to their previous workplaces to hand over their responsibilities, and then immediately join the posts to which they were promoted.
