Faridganj administration meets farmer representatives on irrigation issues

FARIDGANJ — Senior administration officials in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur held a meeting with farmer representatives on Wednesday to address irrigation problems in the area.

The meeting was held at the upazila parishad conference room on the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 3, and was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Setu Kumar Barua.

After discussion of farmers’ various problems and possibilities for resolving them, officials agreed to move quickly on implementation. Veteran freedom fighter Alamgir Hossain Dulal, convener of the Chandpur-Lakshmipur Farmers’ Struggle Committee, spoke on behalf of the farmers.

Those present at the meeting included Upazila Agriculture Officer Kallol Kishore Sarkar; Md. Saiful Alam, deputy general manager of the Faridganj zonal office of Chandpur Palli Bidyut Samity-2; Press Club president Mamunur Rashid Pathan; Mostafizur Rahman, sub-divisional engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board’s Chandpur office; and Md. Al-Amin, deputy assistant engineer of the BADC Chandpur (minor irrigation) unit, along with farmer representatives from various parts of the upazila and officials of departments related to agriculture.
