NOAKHALI — More than 800 students took part in a ‘Run for Unity’ marathon at Noakhali Science and Technology University despite the bitter cold.

The race began at the university’s main gate on Saturday morning, looped through Banglabazar and ended back at the gate.

About 800 students registered online for the event, which was organized by the university’s Chhatra Shibir branch. Both men and women took part, giving the campus a festive atmosphere. The top 20 finishers received prizes, and all participants were honored.

Jahid Hasan, who finished first, said such events play an important role in maintaining young people’s mental and physical health. “I ran to finish first,” he said. “Events like this will motivate students.”

Ariful Islam, president of the university’s Chhatra Shibir, said the goal was to build a healthy and positive campus. “We will continue to organize such events in the future,” he said.

Also present were Arifur Rahman Saikat, the unit’s general secretary; Bani Yamin, student rights secretary; Abdur Rahman, finance and publicity secretary; Mehedi Hasan, office secretary; Mahbubul Alam Tareq, legal secretary; and other Chhatra Shibir leaders and members.
