CHATTOGRAM — Police arrested a 37-year-old man wanted in 15 criminal cases, including theft, robbery, abduction and extortion, and recovered weapons, ammunition, drugs and cash from him, officials said Sunday.

Abu Sayed, alias Ripon, was arrested in Raozan, Md. Belayet Hossain, assistant police superintendent of the Raozan-Rangunia circle, told a news briefing at noon on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Ripon is the son of Shawkat Akbar Chowdhury, known as Junu, of Janalihat in Ward 4, Sultanpur, Raozan municipality.

Hossain said Ripon was arrested Saturday from the Sultanpur Sarkarpara area. A search of his possession yielded five pistol rounds, 20 yaba pills and 1,000 taka in cash. Acting on his disclosure, police recovered a locally made wood-handled gun and four shotgun cartridges from a cattle farm behind the Khwaja Garib Newaz Engineering Workshop in the same area.

“No terrorist will be allowed to remain in Raozan,” Hossain said. “Our operations are continuing.”
