FENI — A photo showing a child handling a gun in Feni’s Sonagazi has spread on social media after the boy’s Saudi Arabia-based maternal uncle posted it on his Facebook account.
In the caption, the uncle wrote: “This is my eldest nephew. At this age he should be holding a toy pistol, but instead he is holding a real pistol.”
The image set off an uproar online, and the Facebook post could no longer be found after a few hours, residents said. Many had saved screenshots.
Reached by phone, the child’s father said he had not known his son was being photographed with the gun. “My child was at his maternal grandfather’s house, and someone put a gun in his hand and took a photo, but I did not know about it,” he said. “I learned of it after his uncle posted it. I have called my brother-in-law but he is not answering.”
The father said that by putting a gun in the child’s hand and circulating the image on Facebook, his son’s normal life had been put at risk.
