BANDARBAN — Voters in Lama and Alikadam upazilas of Bandarban say Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Jabed Reza has become their preferred candidate for the next election, citing his record of standing by ordinary people through the party’s most difficult years.
Residents said Reza was a familiar presence in moments of crisis when other party figures were absent. They credited the BNP high command for recognizing his work and called on local leader Sachingpru Jerry to set aside rivalries and campaign alongside Reza, warning that the 300th parliamentary constituency in Bandarban could be at risk without a united effort.
Voters said the seat would belong to the BNP if the party’s organizational activities in Bandarban were carried out in a coordinated way.
Reza said Bangladeshis had been denied voting rights and basic freedoms for the past 17 years. He blamed what he described as the previous Awami League government for the loss of those rights and said the time had come for everyone to work together to win the constituency.
