SIRAJGANJ — Training has finally begun at the regional population training institute in Chhalavara of Maijbari Union in Sirajganj’s Kazipur upazila, officials said.
The inauguration ceremony was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, in the institute’s auditorium. Md. Shafiqul Islam, joint secretary and director of research at the National Institute of Population Research and Training (NIPORT), was the chief guest. He launched activities by training family planning inspectors.
The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Modabberul Islam, principal of the regional population training institute in Kazipur. Special guests included Raihanul Islam, deputy director of family planning for Sirajganj district; Dr. Md. Rasel, the Kazipur upazila health and family planning officer; and Abu Sayeed, police station inspector for investigation.
Construction of the regional population training institute began in 2018 at a cost of 19.79 crore taka (about $1.6 million). The contractor handed over the building on March 10, 2022. The institute was formally inaugurated online on March 15, 2023.
