NALDANGA, Natore — A crack appeared in a rail line in Natore’s Naldanga upazila on Monday morning, Dec. 8, near the Madhnagar railway station. But rail workers’ quick response completed the repair without any major accident, officials said.
Local sources said residents spotted the crack on rail line No. 1, near pillar No. 253 in the Enrar Par area south of Madhnagar railway station, on Monday morning. They immediately informed village police officer Nazmul Hossain and the railway authorities. The authorities then quickly arranged for the crack to be repaired.
Railway trolleyman Julfiqar Hossain said repair work began immediately after senior authorities were informed of the crack. Railway workers completed the repairs by about 11:30 a.m. Trains ran slowly on the line as a precaution during the repairs. Train service is now fully normal.
A team from Naldanga police station visited the scene after being informed. Rail workers and local residents believe the crack was caused by the iron contracting in the extreme cold. A similar crack had recently appeared in the rail line north of the nearby Birkutsa railway station and was later repaired.
