Nine days after he went missing from the Birinchi area of Feni town, there is still no trace of madrasa student Mahfuzur Rahman Imon.
Relatives, classmates and local residents formed a human chain at the Central Shaheed Minar on Trunk Road in the town on Tuesday afternoon, demanding that he be found.
Imon is a Class 7 student at Birinchi Sufia Nuria Alim Madrasa. He is the son of Shahidul Islam Sujon of Pochi Fakir Bari in the area.
Local sources said Shahidul Islam Sujon earns his living by driving a battery-run auto-rickshaw. His younger son Imon, alongside his studies, used to take his father’s auto-rickshaw out. As on other days, he went out with the auto-rickshaw on 28 September and did not return home. A general diary was filed at Feni Model Police Station over the incident. Two days later police recovered the auto-rickshaw from a place next to Star Line Filling Station at Fatehpur.
Those who spoke at the human chain included Imon’s father Shahidul Islam Sujon, his mother Momena Begum, his brother Mosharraf Hossain Jabed, local social worker Salauddin Mamun, Maulana Hasan Ahmad, Mahfuzur Rahman and Kamal Uddin Mintu, and other local residents.
Imon’s mother Momena Begum said: “It has been nine days. I still have no news of my son. Dead or alive, give me back my son.”
His father Shahidul Islam Sujon said: “For the past nine days I have been going from door to door, and I can find no trace of my son. I know nothing about where he is or how he is. I want my son back. I want nothing else, just give me back my son.”
His brother Mosharraf Hossain Jabed said: “Nine days have passed and we have not found my brother. Even after we filed a general diary at the model police station, police have not been able to trace him. The administration is doing nothing. We ask that my brother be found. We want my brother back.”
