A 13-year-old boy who worked as a farmhand has died after being electrocuted by an electric trap set in a dragon fruit orchard in Maheshpur, Jhenaidah. His body was found on Saturday morning (3 October) beside a dragon fruit orchard in the fields of Bhairaba village. He was from Chunniraite village.
According to police and relatives, the boy left home on Friday night and did not return. His family began searching for him, and local people later found his body lying beside the orchard. Family members went to the spot and identified him.
Relatives say he was electrocuted after getting caught in an electric trap set in the orchard as he went there.
Maheshpur police station officer-in-charge Azad Rahman said police went to the scene on being informed, and the matter would be investigated and legal action taken.
