DHAKA — Five more children have died of measles or measles-like symptoms nationwide over the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services said Thursday. During the same period, another 1,170 children developed symptoms of the disease.
The figures were released in the directorate’s regular bulletin Thursday afternoon, April 23.
The Health Directorate said two children with measles-like symptoms died in Dhaka division and one each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions in the past day. In the same period, one additional child died of confirmed measles in Dhaka division.
Meanwhile, 125 confirmed cases of measles were recorded nationwide over the past 24 hours. An additional 1,170 children developed symptoms. Since March 15, a total of 28,334 children have shown measles symptoms through Thursday, and 4,059 children have been confirmed with measles in the same period.
According to the directorate’s report, 18,845 children with measles symptoms have been hospitalized across the country since March 15. Of them, 15,728 have so far recovered and been discharged.
