Measles and suspected cases kill 8 more in Bangladesh

DHAKA — Eight more people died of measles or suspected measles in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services said, as deaths among children continue to mount.

A total of 216 people have died of suspected measles since March 15, the directorate said in a bulletin Sunday, April 26.

The number of suspected measles patients in the past 24 hours was 1,412, up from 1,058 the previous day, the bulletin said. The number of confirmed measles patients was 216, down from 229 the previous day.

A total of 21,434 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals so far, up from 20,375 the previous day. In total, 17,955 patients have been discharged, up from 17,091 the previous day.
