The Rashtrasanglap Forum (SDF) has filed a complaint at the International Crimes Tribunal against 27 people, including several figures from the cultural world, alleging involvement in killings during the July uprising.
The complaint was filed at the chief prosecutor’s office at noon on Sunday.
The organisation said in its submission that the roles of various individuals, including several from the cultural sphere, during or around the time of the July movement should be investigated in accordance with the law. Its published list names 27 people, among them the actors Meher Afroz Shaon, Rokeya Prachi and Mahiya Mahi.
The Rashtrasanglap Forum said it believes there should be a neutral and lawful investigation into the possible roles of the people named. It called on the International Crimes Tribunal to verify the allegations in accordance with the law and to take the necessary steps to ensure justice for those killed and injured.
No charges have been framed against any of those named. A complaint filed with the chief prosecutor’s office is not a charge; it is a request for investigation, which the tribunal may accept or reject.
